Chubwa Tea Estate derives its name from the local words “chah” (tea) and “bowa” (garden). Chubwa tea estate is historically very important since the first ever successful plantation of tea saplings took place within this estate in the year 1836. Chubwa tea estate has a cultivation area of over 777.28 hectares and a production area that covers 929.89 hectares. It has the capacity to produce 23.15 lakh kilograms of both CTC and fine orthodox tea annually.
