By Pure Chamomile, we mean it contains whole, real flowers with no stems or dusty particles. Sourced directly from the lush Nile valley, it's hand-sorted and cleaned on-arrival to ensure the purest of flowers with unbroken florets are sent to our customers. This is distinctly different from chamomile extracts or powdered formulations widely available in the market and thereby making for much smoother, flavorful cups and can be re-steeped multiple times.
Yes, chamomile tea has zero caffeine content. It’s not a product of the original tea plant, Camellia Sinensis, which naturally contains theanine and caffeine. Instead, it is a kind of herbal tea or tisane, made from the dried flowers of a Chamomile plant.
You can drink 1-2 cups of chamomile tea per day. Like other herbal teas, it works best when you drink it regularly – it is fine and even encouraged to drink three to four cups a day. It is recommended to drink one cup of chamomile tea about 45 minutes before bed if you're having sleep-related issues. That will give your body enough time to metabolize the tea, and the chemical compounds that cause those sedative feelings to kick in.
We source our Chamomile flowers directly from the lush valleys of the Nile in Egypt. Egyptian chamomile is considered to be of the highest quality and makes for an exceptionally flavorful tea with a notable natural sweetness. Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians all revered chamomile for its soothing and medicinal properties. Composed of large, fragrant flowerheads, it's way more delicious and fresh than ordinary chamomile extracts or dusty quality widely available in the market.
The shelf life of chamomile tea will depend on several factors, including the type of chamomile tea you have, how it is stored, and the specific packaging it comes in. Pure leaf chamomile tea typically remains fresh for about 6-12 months when stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from stale or unwanted odors.
Chamomile is a herb that has been traditionally used as a natural remedy to promote relaxation and sleep. Chamomile is particularly effective at making you feel sleepy because of its chemical structure. The plant extract contains apigenin, a chemical compound that induces sleepiness when it binds to the GABA receptors in the brain. GABA receptors are the same receptors that bind to benzodiazepines, which are commonly used as anti-anxiety drugs because they have a calming effect. Similarly, when the apigenin in chamomile binds to GABA receptors, it has a sedative and relaxing effect on your mind.
Chamomile tea can be consumed at any time in the day. To get the maximum benefits and for Chamomile to aid in sleeping, it is best to consume it at least 30-45 minutes before you go to bed. The effects of chamomile are not immediate, nor does it work like a sleeping pill and knock you out. Instead, chamomile tea will help you relax and may even make you drowsy, which can help you fall asleep. If you are a diabetic, you could try having a cup of chamomile tea after your meals.
Chamomile is a herb that has been traditionally used as a natural remedy for a variety of ailments. It contains anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and sedative properties. This makes chamomile very effective in improving your digestive system by reducing the risk of certain gastrointestinal conditions. Research suggests chamomile also helps reduce the severity of menstrual cramps. Rich in antioxidants, it helps regulate blood sugar level for people with diabetes and goes a long way in improving your heart health.
Pure chamomile flowers usually remain fresh and flavorful when stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from stale or unwanted odors. If you notice that your chamomile tea has started to lose its flavor or has developed an off smell, it is best to discard it and purchase a fresh batch.
