Protecting our planet is a priority at Teabox. While we ship the freshest teas across 121
countries and more, we aim to cultivate the habit of 'sustainable sipping' to tea lovers
across the world. Whether you purchase tea from us or not, you can help make our planet
greener. Here are some suggestions that you can incorporate into your daily lives to make
your cup earth-friendly:

Use local water to reduce carbon footprint

When your cup of tea is almost 100% water, choosing the water becomes so crucial.
When the water travels the distance less, the carbon emission is lesser into the
atmosphere. At all places possible, use natural spring water when you steep your cup
of tea. If you are using bought water in cans or bottles, please refill them.

Save water

The world is in the middle of a water crisis. Please be mindful of the quantity you use
while making tea. You can use measuring cups to boil the right amount of water. Say a
big NO to throwing excess water in the sink.

Use Loose leaf

While tea bags come with convenience for a short time, using them every day for a
lifetime is a big concern. We recommended you start inculcating the ritual of using loose
leaf tea and no tea bags. Even if the tea bag is biodegradable, using loose-leaf will lessen
the waste generated.

Steep multiple times with long leaf tea

When you choose long leaf tea in place of brokens, fannings, or dust green tea, you
automatically choose the superior quality of tea. Longleaf tea can be steeped multiple
times, thereby reducing the quantity of tea used without compromising on the taste.

Use Sustainable tea accessories

Choosing the right tea accessory not just elevates your drinking experience but also
makes it eco-friendly. By selecting 100% borosilicate glass teapots, makers and cups,
stainless steel infusers, and earthenware accessories in place of inferior quality material like
plastic, you make the planet a greener and better place to live.

Use tea as compost

Tea leaves left after steeping is an excellent source of nutrition for plants. They are rich in
nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and tannic acid, making natural compost. The tea
compost makes the soil more fertile and gives a much-needed boost to the plant's growth.

Upcycle & recycle tea packaging

After your tea is over, you can use the tin caddies for several purposes. Use it as a pot
for your succulents, pen stands, and collectibles. Our durable shipper boxes can be
reused to store your everyday household material.
