Legend has it that English Breakfast Tea, a beloved blend worldwide, originated from a fortuitous mistake by British tea merchant Richard Davies in the early 19th century. When his supply of China Congou ran out, Davies blended various Indian and Sri Lankan black teas, creating a robust and flavorful concoction that became an instant hit, especially with hearty English breakfasts. Dubbed "English Breakfast Tea," this blend quickly gained popularity, symbolizing the essence of a traditional English morning.

Another attribution links the blend to a Scottish tea master named Drysdale, who marketed it as Breakfast Tea. Queen Victoria, encountering this blend and being fond of all things Scottish, gave it her royal approval. With the Queen's endorsement, the blend acquired the name "English Breakfast tea," solidifying its place in history.

Over time, the blend evolved to include Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan teas, yet it remains a timeless classic, cherished for its comforting aroma, bold flavor, and enduring tradition in tea culture globally.

The true taste of tea

Every tea company makes claims about their teas that are in my opinion, only half truths. Now this Teabox English Breakfast? The description is spot on. I note the smoke and the malt. This will now be my go to breakfast tea. My work mates are used to grocery store tea bags, but I have convinced them that quality tea really does have flavor.

One of the best English Breakfast Tea

Definitely one of the best English Breakfast teas I've had. The perfect aroma, taste, and colour everytime. Can be seeped twice, however the taste is a but milder the second time.
