Nestled in the tranquil Lebong Valley of Darjeeling, the Badamtam Tea Estate is a sanctuary of natural beauty and storied heritage. Established in 1858 by British planter Christine Barnes, its name is believed to stem from a Lepcha word meaning “bamboo water carrier,” a nod to the region’s deep cultural roots.

From its gently undulating hills, one can glimpse sweeping views of snow-capped Mt. Kanchenjunga—especially breathtaking at sunrise, when the peaks are bathed in golden light. The Rangeet and Majhitar rivers meander through the estate’s lush terrain, nurturing a biodiverse haven filled with wildflowers, birdsong, and whispering groves.

At the heart of the garden stands a serene, 14-foot-high Buddha statue—crafted by a renowned artist—which embodies the peaceful spirit and quiet strength of the estate. This harmony finds its way into the teas crafted here.
