The Garden

Set in Assam's fertile Barak Valley, Coombergram traces its roots to before the 1880s, its history still marked by a small graveyard honoring Miss Amy Caroline Bell near the manager's bungalow.

Now under the Goodricke Group, this verdant estate crafts a malty summer black notably smoother and less astringent than many classic Assams, a quiet gem of the valley.

Taste
The first sip opens with deep malty richness, the signature of fine Assam teas - seamlessly balanced by notes of maple syrup. Layers of wet wood and hints of dried apricot add complexity, while a whisper of spice lingers in the background. Full-bodied and brisk, it offers a pleasant astringency that refreshes the palate and leaves a satisfying, rounded finish.

Great flavor & great value

Got this tea on a great sale recently. I almost wondered if it would live up to expectations due to it having a strong discount. On first brew, I was pleasantly surprised. Typical deep malty lushness with light astringency/mouth feel & a rich dark color. I see it’s sold out now. Glad I got it & ready to try some of the others I picked up.

Love this Assam Tea

I have now purchased the 2023 second flush Coombergram Summer Black twice because I really love it. Nice malty strong Assam, but less astringent compared to many others I have tried.

refreshing and reinvigorating

as described, the tea is delightful to the palate and a soother to the senses. I like it best with a splash of milk, after steeping the leaves for a few minutes. Enjoyed at any time of the day

Deliciously not what I was expecting

I don't know tea words, and don't know quite how to describe this tea. I tend to drink VERY malty Assams - the kind you could float a horseshoe on. This one is /different/. Not especially astringent, DEFINITELY not what I'd call malty; but it is compelling and delicious and I'll probably end up buying another bag in the VERY near future.

Excellent Assam

This is one of my new favorite teas. Before I even steeped it I could tell it was going to be amazing from the smell. I wasn't disappointed- in fact, I'm in love! Sweet, fruity, malty, rich, almost a hint of chocolate...just perfect. Everything I want in an Assam, and you can't beat the price! Top-of-the-line freshness and flavor at an amazing value. LOVE!

Excellent morning tea

This tea may be my new morning favorite! There is a slight astringency to the flavor but it isn't overpowering, and the main body of the tea is smooth, velvety, and malty. There is hardly any bitterness. I thought I was going to have to add some sugar and cream to this tea, but I was delighted to find that it tastes amazing plain.
The aroma alone makes this tea worth purchasing--brown sugar, cherries, and malt. Heaven.

Perfect for breakfast

Clean and smooth. Neither heavy nor light, it's right in the middle. Not a complex tea, this one is straight to the point and does the job with a smile.
A slight astringency, which I could see being fatal if over-steeped, but the light bitterness makes the tea lovely to drink either solo or with your favorite tea condiment. For myself, I found cream and sugar to be a divine compliment.
It is enjoyable when iced, but the bitterness does come through. Adding a little lemon/sugar helps!
