High in Darjeeling’s North Kurseong region, Balasun Tea Estate rests at nearly 4,500 feet above sea level, spread across mist-laden slopes shaped by a cool, temperate mountain climate. The estate carries a rich tea-growing legacy dating back to 1871, when it was established as Nahore Balasun before later taking its name from the Balason River that flows through the surrounding landscape.

Over the years, Balasun has developed a distinct identity within Darjeeling, combining its heritage Chinary sections with select clonal plantings. This diversity allows the garden to produce teas with varied expressions, while the altitude, rainfall, and seasonal conditions continue to lend each harvest its own character.
