The full form of CTC is crush, tear, and curl. It is a processing method where black tea leaves are passed through a series of cylindrical rollers that have hundreds of sharp teeth that crush, tear, and curl the tea into small, hard pellets.
CTC teas also have grades depending on the tea leaf. A few CTC tea grades would include BPO1(Broken Orange Pekoe one), GF BPO (Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe one), BPS (Broken Pekoe Souchong) and more.
A tea spiced with Indian flavours and desired greatly on cold mornings. The most common spices used are cardamom, clove, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Recipes use some or all of this in varying proportions to make masala chai.
Masala Chai is a powerful blend of tea, herbs, and spices that have been cherished for centuries in India as a means of improving health and enhancing peace of mind. Two other important benefits of chai include enhancing the immune system and fighting inflammation.
The difference between us and other brands is that we deliver fresh tea directly to you from the tea estate. We bypass auction houses and middlemen to cut the time it takes for tea to reach you down from 6 months to 7 days. Yes, you can buy tea online elsewhere at reduced prices, but we guarantee their tea will not be as fresh as ours, which means it will not be as flavourful.
We use CTC grade BP1 - which has smaller grains. A smaller surface area leads to greater absorption, thus giving the tea a very nice Kadak Flavour, Great Aroma and a lovely colour.
Freshness is at the core of what we do at Teabox. All teas we sell are sourced directly from the tea plantations and stored in vacuum-packed units in our facility. We endeavour to give our csutomers the same experience every single time they buy from us. So, if you are buying a pack of Masala chai from us in January or be it in December - you will be able to savor the same flavor and taste and experience freshness in every single cup. We want to enjoy your cup of tea and not feel staleness/mustiness ever. That's what we are striving to achieve every single day at Teabox.
